19th St Lobby, New York

Status: Completed in 2011 Program: Residential Lobby Square Feet: 760sf Location: New York

The conversion of a manufacturing building into residential lofts required a minimalist and contemporary lobby space. In response, Buro designed the canopy as a sculptural plane that appears to float above the entrance and reception desk. The folded aluminum plane begins over the sidewalk, pierces through the glass of the entrance and visually guides residents and guests through to the reception desk where the lobby volume of rectilinear slabs on the floor and walls contrasts with the sculptural object overhead.
